About the Project

TM Construction BV was appointed for a complex, multi-year construction project as part of a major expansion to a live data centre environment in Amsterdam Zuid. The scope included critical underground infrastructure, structural concrete works, and high-performance finishing solutions — all executed in close collaboration with Flynn, ISG and Global Switch.

This project also marks our first design and build contract within the data centre sector, and our first large-scale piling contract, delivered under high time pressure and strict quality demands.

Scope of Work

TM Construction BV was responsible for the full delivery of structural and technical works on this high-profile data centre expansion. The project began with the construction of an underground fuel dump tank, followed by the integration of a new fuel farm, which included pile cropping and all required concrete testing, such as sonar scans and cube strength testing.

A KIWA-certified concrete bund was installed inside the building to safely store lithium battery packs. In addition, three major concrete structures were built, including a water mist slab, a system of underground beams with 500–250 mm stepped slabs, and the NTR structure topped with a 500 mm reinforced concrete slab.

A total of 1,200 m² of internal concrete floors was poured and finished to FM2 standard, with structural adjustments carried out during night shifts, such as refixing raised access floor pedestals. The project also involved the reapplication of 3,000 m² of epoxy flooring, the renewal of ACO drain sections, and full preparations for client handover.

To ensure technical and operational continuity, we also managed the following:

  • Piling operations
  • Fireproofing and intumescent coatings
  • Coring and waterproofing
  • Internal fit-out works, including security office extensions in live data centre zones
  • Final site-wide cleaning and logistics

All works were delivered safely and without incidents, maintaining the highest quality standards throughout the two-year timeline
